What Learning Resources are Available to Students?

In addition to the traditional classroom offerings available through the Disney College Program, we have developed several resources to aid our students with their varying educational requirements. Please take a moment to review the documents below and work with your students to customize a curriculum that meets your students' learning objectives and your requirements for credit.

Instructors
To supplement our students' learning experiences, our instructors are available before, during and after each class as well as during weekly office hours. Students can consult with the instructors about questions related to any aspect of the program, mentoring or tutoring referral services.

Disney Learning Centers
At our Disney Learning Centers, students can enhance their personal and academic development with computer-based tutorials, quiet study facilities, and career and leadership resources. Students have access to any of the 13 centers located strategically throughout the resort, including one at the Vista Way apartment complex. All locations offer library resources, computer-based training and scheduled learning activities to match students' learning styles, preferences and interests.

  Disney Learning Centers have a large collection of library resources from industry leaders in the fields of business and hospitality from such authors as Tom Peters, Peter Senge, Stephen Covey and Ken Blanchard.

• Computer Resources
  Multimedia computers in Disney Learning Center locations provide a fully interactive learning environment. There are resources that appeal to computer beginners and proficient users alike.

• Learning Activities
  Disney Learning Centers feature learning activities in a variety of topics. Most are instructor-led, while other formats include video presentations, discussion groups and tours.

The instructor-led learning activities typically are hosted at the Disney Learning Centers. Please click on the links below for the monthly Disney Learning Center calendar. Although the activities are subject to change, these calendars provide some insight into our offerings.

Writing Support
All students have access to a copy of the Disney College Program Writing Guide through the Walt Disney World® Resort intranet, The Hub. This guide covers topics such as writing an effective essay, preparing a research paper, formatting, organizing thoughts, punctuation, quoting, referencing and tips for avoiding common grammatical errors. In addition to the Disney College Program Writing Guide, students may also receive assistance at our Writing Lab located at the Vista Way Disney Learning Center. Here students can sit down with member of the Learning Center Team and get helpful advice with their grammar, spelling, punctuation, organization and composition. NETg Learning programs and computer, audio- and video-based resources are also available at the Disney Learning Centers.

Distance-learning opportunities
Distance-learning opportunities are available for students who want to take additional courses for credit while participating in our program.

Proctoring
For students participating in distance-learning courses or completing other class work for their home institutions, the Disney College Program Education Office provides proctoring services for examinations or other assignments. For specific information or to request proctoring, please contact the Education Office at 407-827-1244.

Computer Labs
There are a variety of computer resources available to students on our campus who wish to check their e-mail, access The HUB portal or prepare essays and other class assignments. In addition to computers in each of the Disney Learning Centers across our property, there are computer labs conveniently located at each of our housing complexes. Additionally, there are a limited number of laptop computers available for checkout (for up to 48 hours) for students who want to work on group presentations, essays and other writing assignments.

Career Insights
Students can take advantage of seminars taught in a small group setting by Walt Disney World® leaders on an array of topics, including career progression and development.

Communication
There is a wide variety of communication vehicles available for students to access information about development opportunities, events and resources. These vehicles include:

• The Communicator
  This monthly newsletter, created for Cast Members participating in our Disney College Program, International Programs or Disney CareerStart Program, covers program news and events.
  
  
• WE'RE ALL EARS Support Line
  This confidential phone line offers our Disney College Program Cast Members a rapid response to questions and concerns regarding any aspect of the Disney College Program.
  
  
• The Walt Disney World Cast Intranet: "the Hub"
  This excellent resource provides all Cast Members with a single source for accurate, timely and relevant information, including messages from executives, company news, information about products and services, tools Cast Members need to perform their roles, Cast discounts and Cast activities.
  
  
• Resource Guide
  We encourage Cast Members to use this valuable resource from the day they arrive to the day they depart. The book includes important phone numbers, directions, maps and information about activities and services.
  
  
• Personal E-mail Distributions
  Throughout their program, Disney College Program Cast Members receive a weekly e-mail with updates on current news and information regarding the program.
  
  
• Eyes & Ears
  This biweekly publication by and for the Cast includes articles about new projects, attractions and events at the Walt Disney World® Resort, executive messages, Cast events, Cast discounts, Cast offers and more.
