About the Interviews
The first interview the all applicants must complete is a Web-based interview. A code will be provided at the end of the E-Presentation or following the campus presentation to access the Web-based interview.
Based on an applicant's Web-based interview results, they may be invited to complete a telephone interview.
Telephone Interview Tips
Limit Noise and Distractions.
Be sure that you are
in a quiet environment free from distraction or excess noise. Turn off the TV
and stereo, close your door, and notify roommates that you will be
interviewing.
Try Not to Use a Cell Phone.
If possible, avoid
using a cell phone for your interview. If this is your only option, be sure
that you are in a quiet location that has a strong signal.
Blocked/Unknown Caller
When your interviewer calls,
it may show up as a "blocked" or "unknown caller" in your caller i.d. Please
answer the phone!
Prepare.
As you would for any
interview, prepare in advance!
- Familiarize yourself with the
Roles that are offered on our
program.
You will be asked which roles interest and do not interest you. Be honest! Do not check any role on the role checklist that you are not receptive to performing. - Familiarize yourself with the
Program Season time
frames.
Check your availability. Will you need to attend classes over the summer? Are certain courses only offered during certain times of the year? You will be asked to indicate which program seasons interest you. You will need to be fully available for the full duration of the program(s) in which you are applying. - Be prepared to discuss your background and
interests.
You will be asked about the one topic that you know more than anyone else, YOU! - Make a list of any questions you have for your interviewer.
- Be prepared for your call approximately 5 - 10 minutes before your scheduled interview time
Relax Before Your Interview.
Give yourself enough
time before your interview to relax and mentally prepare yourself.
Take Notes.
Have paper and a pen ready for note
taking.
Take Your Time.
It's perfectly acceptable to take a
moment or two to collect your thoughts before answering a question.
Smile!
Smiling will project a positive image to the
interviewer and will change the tone of your voice
Length
The interview will last between 20 - 30
minutes.
